Two people have been killed and 16 others are missing after a passenger boat capsized near the Nigerian city of Lagos. Emergency officials said they were searching for 16 other people on board the sinking boat.
Possibly high waves caused the boat to capsize. According to officials, the occupants of the boat were not wearing life jackets, While the boat was traveling at night in violation of the rules when the incident occurred.
The Manger of inland waterways authority Sir Brima clairify that, the passenger boat was carrying 16 passengers from the two-mile area to the Aujo area when the incident occurred.
He said he received a call about the incident at night, after which the search for the wrecked boat and its passengers and crew began immediately.
He said rescue teams found the boat and found the bodies of two people aboard, But so far no news has been received about the other 16 people on board, including the crew.
